The SAS was a very proud unit and they were critical of the items they wore. Therefore the badges, wings and insignia had to be of the highest order. Arguably the second most commonly faked item in Rhodesian military memorabilia. Caveat emptor!

This badge with REUTELER MFG RHOD stamped on the reverse of the slide was at one time sold by Andrew Butler of (aka old_club_badges on eBay, Andrew Butler Insignia, Butlers Military and Vintage, 6thjune1944.com).
I had a debate with Andrew, with him saying that he had bought a number of these badges directly from Werner Reuteler just before he left Zimbabwe.
The problem with that statement is Reuteler never made any SAS badges with slides and he never used the stamping of REUTELER MFG RHOD.
This is the same badge as shown above. It is a British badge falsely stamped with a fake Reuteler Manufacturing stamp.
Reuteler never made these, and the SAS did not use them.
If the bottom para wing is meant to be a Rhodesian SAS officer’s wing then it is a fake. Apart from the ten feathers when it should be nine there are others things wrong with it.
